I can confirm it works on the 2004 Tacoma Double Cab, good luck accessing the two inside bolts/nuts holding the oem 3rd brake light in place. There is a youtube video for us Gen 1 Tacoma owners that will help you.

Got this to replace my third brake light on my first GEN Tacoma the kit works good, and gives you the ability to switch how the lamp is mounted. So you dont have to go into the cab and take the headliner down again.
